The Xishuangbanna tropical flowers and plants garden is located in Yunnan province, Jinghong city. It is a theme botanical garden and includes areas for plant research, science and technology exhibits, and areas for enjoying the tranquil surroundings.
It is an important scenic spot in Xishuangbanna, which covers an area of 80 hectares. The garden was appraised as an ''AAA'' Scenic Spot by the National Tourism Bureau In 2001, and has gained National ''AAAA'' Scenic Spot in 2005. It passed authentication of the two management systems ISO9001 and ISO14001 in 2003.
In the garden there is a monument to Premier Zhou Enlai and flora communities. The theme botanical garden has preserved more than 100 species of tropical flowers including 300 varieties and about 600 species of tropical economic plants including 7000 germplasms. Strolling in the garden, you may discover many unique, mystery plants. Here you can not only view the fascinating tropical scenery, but see what a coffee tree looks like, hear tales about the golden mango and secrets of its fruit juice.
With its tropical flowers, beautiful scenes, intense ethnic flavour and rich scientific substance, the Garden has been designated as a national-level tourist scenic spot since 1991, and now receives 250000-300000 tourists a year.
